Don’t expect President Obama to coast through his final three months int he White House. He and his team still have a busy agenda. Last-minute rules, regulations and orders to help advance his causes and bolster his legacy, just as others have done with one foot out the door.
Environmental issues top his rush list. The biggest: Controlling methane emissions from existing oil and natural gas pipelines and wells. Regulations controlling new sources exist now, but the infrastructure already in place isn’t covered. Methane is much more potent than carbon dioxide, so environmentalists will hail the new maneuver. But the industry will rail at the cost and burden.
Obama also wants to crack down on TCE, and industrial chemical used in making refrigerants.
